The International Coconut Community Secretariat facilitated a two-day technical and learning visit for a high-level parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Kiribati, comprising members of the Cottage Industry Development Committee of the Kiribati Parliament. The visit was organized to provide firsthand exposure to innovative coconut processing technologies, value-added coconut products, and successful coconut-based enterprises in Indonesia. Stakeholders from government institutions, industry associations, businesses, and the international coconut sector gathered at the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) on Wednesday, June 3rd 2026. The meeting aimed to gather aspirations and recommendations from stakeholders across Indonesia’s coconut sector to support efforts to accelerate downstream processing and increase the value-added contribution of coconut products to the national economy. The International Coconut Community (ICC) delegation, led by Director General Dr. Jelfina C. Alouw, accompanied by Deputy Director General Mr. Nuwan Chinthaka, successfully concluded an official visit to Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China, from 18–22 May 2026. The visit was conducted at the invitation of Hainan University and the organizers of the League of Tropical Universities (LTU) 2026 Summit. The mission provided an important platform to strengthen international collaboration, explore strategic opportunities for the global coconut sector, and further connect the Chinese coconut industry with the wider international coconut community.
